I had a dream last night that I was at Northern Yearly Meeting and we were discussing having hired ministers / representatives - either for NYM or nationally, maybe both? I don't remember.
Anyway, Jesus was there (not glowing or anything, just another guy, though in long robes and sandals) and was "running" for this proposed office.
I was adamantaly opposed to changing the proscription on paid clergy. In the dream I think it didn't even occur to me that it was weird that it was Jesus we were talking about.
Hmmmm...
I NEVER dream about Jesus.

Some questions:
What do you think the significance of NYM is? Why didn't the dream occur at Gathering, for example?
If you had to guess, why do you think you dreamed about Jesus as opposed to Moses or Noah? or as opposed to the clerk of meeting or Gandhi?

Sounds to me like your dreaming self just had an encounter with God's sense of humor. You know I'm envious: why can't I ever have dreams like that?
Jesus "running" for paid clergyman, indeed! Kinda like Gautama the Buddha "running" for a salesman's job at a used car lot.
Marshall - I like that, God's sense of humor. It was really a funny dream. I was talking to a friend about it last night and she was remembering some unbeatable politician in her home town and how they'd say "Jesus himself could come down and run against him and never beat him" - It's like that. No paid clergy, not for Jesus himself :)
Which is still pretty weird....
Liz - I think it was NYM and not gathering because it was a business session, which doesnt' happen at gathering.
I think it was Jesus becaues I'm culturally christian (perish the thought!) and I kinda like his style (I was thinking, about his undyed natural fiber robe and funky sandals, "where can I get me an outfit like that?")
It's weirder because I don't usually dream at all, but the last 3 nights I had - all about exes, or other people whose place in my life has changed (to more distant) who were different in some way, and death. I was a little freaked out (is an ex going to try to kill me? Do I seceretly want to kill someone?) - but I decided it was about change, and perhaps intimacy. I was hoping to have another dream that would further enlighten me on this topic, but I'm still pondering this one....
I think our dreams just like to mess with our sacred cows. This reminds me of a dream I had when I was younger and part of a group that was staunchly vegetarian. I dreamed they were sitting around eating chicken, staring uncomprehendingly in face of my protests.

turns out I'm not even going to NYM, so if Jesus is there, I'll miss him.
